The wonderful people at Of The Afternoon magazine are launching Issue #5 with a Pop-Up exhibition in East London tonight, curated by Christine Santa Ana. I am very happy to be one of the participating photographers and looking forward to a beautiful evening! A sister exhibition in Manchester is taking place next week.
My first solo exhibition takes place this month in Corfu, Greece. An edit of ‘Short Stories’ and ‘The Foreigner’ is being presented in Cafe Kanoni under the unofficial title ‘On The Road’, blending two very distinct projects and parts of the world. Twenty prints and an extended slideshow will feature overlooking the beautiful bay for a month.
I am proud to have two prints selected for this year’s Sample 13 exhibition at theprintspace gallery in London, from the 5th of April to the 17th of May 2013.
This month, the indie Photobook Library is organizing the exhibition ‘A Fair’ at the University of Kansas, with a wide selection of the independent publications in its collection, including the work of Alec Soth’s Little Brown Mushroom.
Interestingly two of my first attempts at self-published photobooks are included in this event. ‘The Old World’ and ‘the foreigner.‘ will feature in the exhibition and you can see photos of the installation here.
The press release:
‘The University of Kansas department of Design with support from the Hallmark Corporate Foundation presents: “A Fair”.
A free, open and public photobook FAIR brimming with contemporary small, large, experimental, raw unfiltered, handmade, and outsourced books that are self-published, DIY, PoD, inkjet, newsprint, offset, in both open and limited editions made by independent local, national, and international publishers, photographers, and artists.
A FAIR, curated by Travis Shaffer, is a glimpse into the the prevalence of the book-form within contemporary ‘photographic’ practice. This exhibition features the works of Alec Soth’s Little Brown Mushroom, a selection by Larissa Leclair of over 150 books from the The Indie Photobook Library and various works by the members of the Artists’ Books Cooperative, including their recent collaborative work titled ‘ABCED’.’
This Saturday May the 5th , the indie Photobook Library is participating at the 2012 PPAC Annual Book Fair in Philadelphia, PA with a selection of photobooks and zines from its archive. My first self-published photobook ’256 Days’ will be one of the exhibiting articles and it’s exciting!
An edit of ‘Short Stories’ is published in the online F8 Magazine this month along with some very interesting photo-stories from around the world.
An extended edit of the project ‘Short Stories‘ was made into a self-published book with blurb as ’256 Days’ earlier this year and was accepted in the Indie Photobook Library. It is now nominated for a People’s Choice Award in the 2011 Photography Book Now competition. A big thank you to all who voted for this first attempt at photobook making and all the encouraging support.
